MLK Day
On Sunday January 14, 2024, members of Zeta Omicron Omega attended the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration hosted by the Kinston Lenoir County NAACP chapter at St. Augustus A.M.E Zion Church.
On January 15, 2024 Zeta Omicron Omega kicked off our MLK Day of service at Mary's Soup Kitchen serving 200 meals to the Kinston Community. We served sandwiches, soup and passed out socks. We celebrated the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King and the 116 Founders' Day of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®
Friday, February 2, 2024 Zeta Omicron Omega had a wonderful time supporting the fight against heart disease at our Pink Goes Red Event! We chose to STEP against heart disease with Xtreme Hip Hop Step with Coach Chermia and Coach JP (Upstage Fitness).
We also collected books by African American authors that will be donated to our local nursing homes.
AKA Day at the Capitol
On Wednesday February 28th, Chapter President Brittany Connor and Jimmette Graham attended NC AKA Day Capitol, in Raleigh NC. The event was presided by NC State Auditor Jessica Holmes and Superior Court Judge Shamieka Reinhart., co-chairmen of the NC Connection and Social Action Committee.
Zeta Omicron Omega's Trailblazers
Chapter members Sarah Connor, Brandy Harrell and Barbara Seaforth received the Trailblazer Award in recognition of their political achievements and commitment to serve in their community.
Mrs. Sarah Connor serves as Town Commissioner, Ward 5, for the town of Ayden, NC.
Mrs. Brandy Harrell serves as Mayor Pro-Tem for the town of Winterville, NC.
Mrs. Barbara Seaforth serves on the city council for the city of Kinston, NC.
It's All About Service
On Sunday March 24th, Zeta Omicron Omega Chapter Uplift Our Local Community initiative partnered with Antioch FWB Church and served a total of 179 meals at Mary’s Soup Kitchen.
AKA Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Packs (CHIPP), provides weekend and holiday meals for children within our local community. For the month of March, the Empower our Families committee packed and delivered 81 bags, filled with meals and snacks to students at Northwest Elementary School.
